i promised karrie that if she fixed my comments problem, i would reward her with the most absurd photo ever. i wound up fixing it myself, but wouldn't have done so without prodding from her. so here for your amazement/amusement is a little snapshot from last sunday, when TK and i joined a group of friends at ... the shooting range.
the purpose of this absurd little trip was that several of our friends' wives want to know how to safely handle and shoot the guns that their husbands keep in their homes. also, terry has been talking about getting a gun to for bear safety while kayaking. secretly i think he just likes loud boomy noises.
during this trip i learned (1) my friends own a lot of guns,(2) guns are much heavier than i thought, (3) i can't keep a straight face while pretending to shoot a gun i can't even hold.

i honestly didn't know that anyone who wasn't in a militia somewhere owned guns like this.
i didn't shoot this one, b/c i thought it might take my shoulder clean off if i tried. i did shoot a handgun, though, which was an interesting experience. my aim sucks. and i still don't want one in my house.
incidentally, i did actually take my knitting with me to the shooting range, although incredibly i failed to take a photo of me knitting in front of the "thank you for shooting!" sign.
