travel tips

if you ever have a couple of hours to kill in Juneau, there is a lovely yarn store downtown. it's called skeins, and it's on franklin street, and the very nice woman there will happily direct you to the amazing amount of sale yarn.

(when i got home, i noted that their class list looks like a lot of fun, too. i want to learn how to make the "felted stuffed penguin"!)

incidentally, if you do find yourself browsing at skeins between flights, do be careful that you don't miss your flight home.

i did not actually miss my flight home, but i came very close to doing so. in my defense, my near-travel-disaster was totally not my fault. or at least, it was not totally my fault.

who knew it would take 25 minutes to get a taxi in downtown juneau in the middle of the work day. i actually called 3 different cab companies before i found one who would actually agree to send a taxi downtown. "nope, we don't have any cabs right now. they're all at the airport." i had a big fat panic attack before my cab eventually showed up, and by the time i got to the (surprisingly long) security line, my flight was boarding "all rows, all passengers." a little terrifying, since i was pretty ready to get home.

i did, in fact, make it home, new yarn and all. :-)
