house

No knitting pics, but some pics of our new place! Hopefully it'll look as nice with our stuff in it as it does with hers. But she's selling us her couch and area rug, and leaving that nice stained-glass window in the kitchen. So maybe there's hope.

Here's the living room, as seen from the dining room:

The view from the living room, and from the master bedroom directly below it:

The kitchen:

From the outside (it's a townhouse-style unit, so we have the whole left side of the building):

As you can imagine, I'm getting very little bar studying done. I'd hate for that to come back to haunt me. Like it did, say, a famous former dean of my alma mater.

On that note, I'm off to refresh my knowledge of the finer points of evidence law. Soon the Bar will be over and I can join the hip knitters of cafe felix instead!

besotted

I want to make this scarf. It's so cute. It would make a nice vallentine's day present. Of course, my vallentine's present to Mr. Purl,Interrupted will be more along the lines of a mac-n-cheese dinner while I continue to study for the dreaded Bar Exam. But it's a nice thought anyway.

movin' on up.

holy buhjeezus, batman, it's 15 below outside! and we've got a lot of catching up to do.

shall we start with the big news? we're moving again! but only about 3 miles this time. but it's big news because ... we're buying a condo! yippee! yeehaw! best of all, it's one of those this-would-cost-a-million-dollars-in-a-crappy-suburb-of-san-francisco kind of condos.

well, i guess that most real estate falls into that category, but anyway, it's a really nice place tucked away in the woods so you really feel like you're in the wilderness, but you're actually only a few minutes from midtown. it's a 3BR townhouse, and I think that this time I'm getting the bigger spare room as the craft room/guest bedroom. Yay! (So I guess that visiting crafters will be particulalry excited!) But there's also a nice big space in the master bedroom for spinning/knitting ... next to the fireplace ... looking out the big picture windows into the woods/creek.

suzie is very excited about this new development, as she currently feels neglected.

so that's probably the biggest news for us these days. i've been working a lot and studying for the alaska bar exam, so knitting, spinning and all other manner of fun things (eating, sleeping, etc) have falled by the wayside. it's been very depressing to hear all the internet chatter about stitches west. not only will I be missing stitches west, but instead I will be taking the bar exam the following week. awesome.

by the way, i kept hoping that our errupting volcano would summon some of my favorite geologists up this way, but no sign of them yet.

i did, however, finally meet a nice group of hip young knitters. terry played a show at our beloved cafe felix on wednesday night as part of "anchorage folk week." along with various friends and fans, the cafe also contained a knitting group that apparently meets there every wednesday night. they seemed very friendly and like they were having a lot of fun. it was like the mel-o-dee, without the velvet wallpaper and the huge martinis. but it's a start! i told them i'd come knit with them when the dreaded bar exam is finally over.

anyhoo, that's the news from these parts. it's damn cold here right now. i have to go start my car and leave it running in the driveway for a while. thank god we live in a safe neighborhood. moreover, thank god that in a month i'll have a garage and won't have to get frostbite warming up my car. talk about a massive improvement in quality of life....
