bear meat lasagne

Since I haven't posted anything in over a month, I figure that I at least owe you some photos. So here are some shots from our crazy outdoor wilderness weekend in March.

Bear meat lasagne, anyone?

Don't mind if we do....

And here is the view walking from our cabin to the main camp area. Not bad, even if it was five below out.

In a related story, I'm going to round two of crazy wilderness woman weekend in June. And one of my favorite knit-bloggers will be there, too! I've signed up for various wilderness first aid and survival clases, plus "pond to pan" (e.g. what to do with it once you've caught it). I also signed up for canoeing, but in retrospect that might have been a little overly optimistic. If I had any chutzpa, I'd sign up for the "field dressing wild game" class. But I just don't know if I have it in me....

heckling the chief

okay, so there's just no excuse for how long it's been since i posted anything. no excuse at all. except that i've been buried under a big pile of work, laziness, painful physical therapy and entropy. which again is really no excuse.

last week i went to fairbanks for the annual alaska bar association convention. fairbanks is a really, really wierd town. really. frankly i'm having a hard time believing that gertrude stein was really talking about oakland when she said there is no there there. because there's sure no there there in fairbanks.

although, strangely, there is a shocking number of thai restaurants for such a desolate place. odd. but good eating on the tundra.

while in fairbanks i had the opportunity to rub shoulders with chief justice john roberts, and to make snarky comments about how much i miss my reproductive freedom. a fantastic law professor from duke gave a talk going over the major decisions of the supreme court's term, which pretty much just made me want to move to canada. don't worry, you didn't need those rights anyway.
